Alexander Kurov (Russian: Александр Куров) is a German and Russian heraldist and heraldic artist. ==Biography== Alexander Kurov was born in St. Petersburg, in Russia in 1973 in the family of lingvists. His interest to heraldry goes back to his childhood when he was at elementary-school age. Most likely that was connected with his almost innate interest in all sorts of alphabets, characters, symbols and ideography, in general. In 1999 together with his childhood friend Alexander Boitsov he created and launched (the first Russian website devoted to heraldic history and theory ). For many years Alexander Kurov served as an Advisor with the Heraldic Department of the Chancellery of the Head of the Russian Imperial House, Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of the House of Romanov. For his service he was awarded personal nobility. In 2002 Alexander Kurov emigrated to Germany, and nowadays he resides in the Hanseatic city of Wismar. Kurov’s professional achievements were described by The Heraldic Craftsman magazine in the following words: ''There are few people who honestly merit the title of pioneer but Alexander Kurov is one of them.
